FAQ
-
Red light therapy (also called photobiomodulation) uses specific red and near-infrared wavelengths that interact with the body at a cellular level.
It’s commonly used in wellness spaces to support:
muscle recovery
circulation
skin health
joint comfort
nervous system regulation
At burn+bloom, we use it as an environment for movement, rest, and breath.
-
Warm. Grounding. Internal.
The room is softly lit in red, your eyes adjust quickly, and most students notice they:drop into their body faster
feel calmer
move more intuitively
rest more deeply
It is not heat-based like hot yoga or a sauna.
-
Whatever you normally practice in.
More skin exposure = more direct light absorption, but you will still receive benefits fully clothed. -
The lights are safe for ambient use in the studio.
We do recommend closing your eyes or lowering your gaze during the practice to turn more inward and let the body lead.
For longer exposure (during shavasana), we recommend closing your eyes or using the provided glasses if you are sensitive to light. -
No. Red light at burn+bloom is a wellness modality, not a medical service.
We do not diagnose, treat, or cure medical conditions. We recommend checking in with your healthcare provider if you are pregnant, sensitive to light or being treated for. serious medical condition.
& in general, if consulting with your healthcare provider helps you feel more at ease, we support that.
We believe in informed, empowered decision-making. Do your research, ask questions, and choose what feels right for your body.
This space is about empowerment.*All students will sign a red-light waiver prior to their first session.

We use 11 professional-grade Neptune panels mounted overhead to create even, full-room coverage.
Each Neptune panel is designed for full-body treatment and contains 300 LEDs with both red and near-infrared wavelengths.
That means during a single class you’re receiving:
exposure across your entire body
from multiple angles
for the full duration of your practice
Instead of a 10-minute, close-range session on one small area,
you’re getting longer, consistent, whole-body exposure in motion and at rest.
That’s a completely different method and it’s the reason we built the room this way.

MAKIURI is woman-owned, Alaska-based, and led by a fellow yoga and breath work teacher who shares the passion and vision as burn+bloom.
Our work is aligned in both practice and philosophy, a shared belief in healing, nervous system support, and creating spaces for community.
So bringing these lights into the studio wasn’t just a business decision, it was a collaboration rooted in practice, trust, and shared purpose.
This is what it looks like when women build something powerful together.
