burn + bloom retreat
march 1-7, 2027 | Lake Atitlán, Guatemala
This is intentional travel-
rooted in adventure, community
& discovery. 7 days of Movement, Ritual & Connection.
more than a retreat
A week at our favorite places on the lake,
moving through the five elements:
earth, water, fire, air & ether
through daily practice, sacred ritual, and real connection.
This is for the ones who want to connect-
to self, to each other, and the land.
We’ll move, explore, reset, and come back to center, together-
held by the magic of the lake and a community that’s willing to go there with you.
Explore. Reset. Reconnect.
You can expect a rhythm of…
01 / Grounded, energizing daily movement
02 / Spacious time for rest and integration
03 / Cultural immersion and guided exploration
The Highlights: Herbal + permaculture workshops · Fire ceremony with a Mayan shaman · Sunrise SUP paddle · Waterfall hike · Women's textile collective in San Juan · Plant bath + sauna · cacao ceremony · Optional plant medicine journey
the location: lake AtitlÁn
Lake Atitlán is one of the most stunning lakes in the world… and one of the most layered. Twelve Mayan villages ring its shores, each with its own dialect, textile tradition, and relationship to the land. The Tz'utujil and Kaqchikel people have held this place for centuries. You feel it the moment you arrive.
the retreat center: casa Floresta
Private. Lakeside. Ours for the week. Casa Floresta sits right on the water with an open-air shala, swimming dock, sauna, fire pit, and volcano views that don't quit. No shared resort, no strangers … just our group and this place. San Marcos La Laguna is walkable. Every other village on the lake is a boat ride away.
Meet Your Hosts
AlisaMarie & Kylie met at this very lake in 2024 and spent a month together teaching so they are thrilled to be back.
AlisaMarie first fell in love with the lake at 16. Kylie has been returning since 2017. Between them, they've spent years here.. teaching, traveling, leading, and coming back simply because this place keeps pulling them in.
AlisaMarie is the founder of burn + bloom in Anchorage - E-RYT 500, somatic movement guide, breath coach, and birth doula.
Kylie is a musician, E-RYT 500, and has facilitated over a dozen group trips to Lake Atitlán.
They recently co-created a b+b 200 HR Yoga Teacher Training … and this retreat is right smack dab in the middle of the 2027 training as an invitation to escape winter and experience retreat together.
Together they lead with honesty, hold space without hand-holding, and know how to make a week feel both wild and safe. Their intention is to share not just the beauty of the lake, but the richness of Guatemalan culture and what it actually feels like to travel with purpose.

The Journey Through the Elements
Each day of the retreat is woven around one of the five elements… Earth, Water, Fire, Air, and Ether. It's a framework for the week, not a rigid structure.
elemental exploration
Each morning, we’ll gather in an immersive practice and workshop container inspired by the five elements: earth, water, fire, air, and ether.
This is not a traditional teacher training.
This is embodied learning-through movement, exploration, conversation, practice, and real-time experience.
Together, we’ll explore a variety of class styles including vinyasa, yin, restorative, and power practices while diving into workshops around sequencing, adjustments & assists, prop integration, authentic teaching, finding your voice, and how to weave both fire and flower into the spaces you hold.
Rooted in Burn & Bloom’s approach to movement and embodiment, this immersion is designed
for teachers who want to teach with more depth, intention, creativity, and connection.
Whether you’re already teaching or simply craving a deeper understanding
of the practice, this space is open to you.
Expect movement, reflection, conversation & exploration.
A chance to reconnect with not only how you teach, but why.
Additional details + full workshop schedule coming soon.
15-Hour YACEP Continuing Education Experience
(optional add-on for yoga teachers + curious students wanting to go deeper)
FAQ
-
You'll fly into Guatemala City, then make your way to Lake Atitlán — about 4-5 hours by shuttle, followed by a short boat ride to Casa Floresta. We recommend arriving a day or two early if you can .. it's a long travel day and the lake is worth settling into slowly. Want more details? Check out our ‘welcome packet here’.
We'll share detailed logistics after booking, coordinate trusted shuttles, and provide a group travel doc to help align arrivals. We've traveled this area extensively and are happy to answer any questions that come up!!
-
Absolutely. A lot of people come solo to retreats …and it's honestly one of the best ways to do it. We intentionally build in both: time that's yours alone to rest, reflect, and recharge, and time together that actually creates connection. By the end of the week, the group tends to feel less like strangers and more like people you've known for years.
-
All meals are included during your retreat stay. Fresh, vibrant, and nourishing. Meals are vegetarian, locally sourced, and prepared by a private chef. Dietary needs can be accommodated.
